SMP has been designed to allow for the easy inclusion of images into any part of your survey.  You can also embed images into the question text based on the answer to a previous question.

Below is an example of a multi select question using images as the answers.  The process of including images is virtually the same from anywhere in the survey.

_img102:  Enter the question text in the usual way by clicking on the Question Text icon.  A rich text editor box appears where you type your question. You have full rich text control over the question formatting.

When entering the answers for a question such as the one above select the image answer option icon:

Clicking on this icon will cause the following pop up screen to appear.  This is the image library.  Select the directory that contains the images you wish to include.

Now select each image you wish to include as a potential answer.  In this example i want to use all the images in this directory so I will check the "All" box circled in red above.  this will cause all the images to be highlighted and included in my question.

This will set up my answers but they now need to be formatted to achieve the above question.  Currently the question looks like this - not very appealing.

You format the image sizes and place them in a number of columns by doing the following.  First select the size of the images by editing te size boxes in the question parameters. Click on one of the size icons shown below or type in the dimensions of your images if you know what you want.

This will cause the image size pop up to appear.

The dotted outlined boxes in the image above are selectable.  Click on them and drag them till you obtain the size of image that you are looking for.

Next select the number of columns you would like to use to display the answers in.  I have used 6.

You have now created the question shown at the beginning of this chapter.  Note that I have also added a text answer - 'I have not owned any of these", which I have made exclusive meaning that if the respondent clicks this answer they cannot also choose any other answer.

NOTES ON USING IMAGES:

1.  The images must have been uploaded to the image library.  This can be done from here if you wish or from the image library on the home screen.  It is easy to upload your images - for a detailed explanation of uploading images to the image library see the section "The Image Library" under the 'The Libraries" section of the user manual.

2.  If you wish to include image labels these need to added using the Image Library and then turned on using the option "Show Image Description".

2.  You can use images from as many directories as you like to build the answers for your question.

3.  You can mix answer types.  After selecting the images you can then also select text answers or rich text answers.  All will appear in the question.

4. IF YOU DELETE AN IMAGE FROM THE IMAGE LIBRARY THAT IS BEING USED IN A SURVEY QUESTION THAT ANSWER WILL DISAPPEAR FROM THE QUESTION.  DO NOT DELETE IMAGES UNTIL THE SURVEY IS COMPLETE.

5.  IF YOU CHANGE THE IMAGE LABEL YOU NEED TO REGET THE IMAGE INTO YOUR QUESTION TO BRING IN THE NEW LABEL.
